Dolan Springs will celebrate National Trails Day Saturday. There will be a pancake breakfast starting at 7 a.m. at the Ranch Club on Pierce Ferry Road. Departures for field trips will also leave from the Ranch Club at 9 a.m. There will be ATV, 4-wheel-drive, horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking groups as well as a swap meet. Q: *Why do we need SB1070 if Arizona law enforcement regularly turns over illegal aliens to Border Patrol agents already. With SB1070 the Arizona taxpayers will pay all the costs that go along with an arrest under state law. If law enforcement can already detain illegal aliens and simply turn them over to the feds, why should we pay all these extra costs in these times?

A: A very good question that I have no answer for. The law won't ever see the light of day. Most of the meat of it was...

Q: * Eighteen states and the District of Columbia were named finalists Tuesday in the second round of the federal "Race to the Top" school reform grant competition, giving them a chance to receive a share of $3.4 billion. The states are: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and South Carolina. All finalists will travel to Washington in coming weeks to present their proposals. Will you be covering any of this in your paper?
