DOLAN SPRINGS
Dolan Springs will take a step back in time Saturday during Dolan Days. This year's parade participants will be decked out in the latest styles of the 1890s.
Parade-goers will want to get up early to fill their stomachs with plenty of pancakes and syrup from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the VFW's pancake breakfast.
The lineup for the parade starts at 9:30 a.m. This year's parade will have an unusual start at 10 a.m., with a plane flyover.
Parade-goers should keep a sharp eye out for the Nellis Air Force Base and the Mohave High School Reserve Officers Training Corps color guards.
Supervisor Gary Watson and State Mine Inspector Joe Hart will make an appearance on horseback among this year's 45 parade participants. The fun will continue with food, kids games, vendors, music, raffles, a petting zoo and gunfights at the Ranch Club area.
The gunfighting gangs of Renegades, Bullets and Bustles and Annie's Marauders will shoot it out at noon and 2 p.m. in their own Wild West towns.
KINGMAN
Chat-N-Chow President Sherry White has been fielding phone calls left and right from people who are worried that the organization's move means the end of the meal program at the Senior Nutrition Center.
White is hoping to clear the confusion. The Senior Program is run by the Mohave County Health Department. Chat-N-Chow's involvement was primarily providing extra help, White said.
"A lot of people have put the two entities together like they are interchangeable, and they are not," she said.
White said officials with Chat-N-Chow decided last month that they needed a bigger facility for their thrift store. They'll open in their new location at 1911 Keno Ave. on Nov. 2. The organization will also begin offering charitable services after that date.
It's still business as usual at the Senior Nutrition Center at 1776 Airway Ave.
"Our senior programs are going to stay right where they are," said Roseann Minard with the center.
