MOHAVE COUNTY
County blade crews will be blading roads in the Meadview, Dolan Springs, Wikieup and Golden Valley areas next week.
Maintenance crews will be repairing road shoulders in the Meadview and Valle Vista areas. Crews will also be sweeping streets and mowing in the Butler area, along North Shipping Lane in the Kingman Airport and in Lazy Y-U.
The Arizona Department of Transportation is still working on repaving parts of Interstate 40 near Kingman from Rattlesnake Wash to Holy Moses Wash. Motorists should expect lane restrictions. The Hualapai Tribe, Bureau of Indian Affairs and Grand Canyon West are working on improving Diamond Bar Road. Motorists should use extreme care when traveling in the area.
LAKE HAVASU CITY
According to Today's News-Herald, the Lake Havasu City Council fired City Manager Richard Kaffenberger by a 4-3 vote during a special meeting Tuesday night. The standing-room-only audience gave the decision a round of applause. City Communications and Intergovernmental Affairs Manager Charlie Cassens will replace Kaffenberger for one week until the council selects a new city manager at its next meeting on Oct. 27.
According to the News-Herald, Kaffenberger was fired after suggesting that the council approve a sewer project contract with Faithful+Gould. Kaffenberger allegedly did not follow state statutes and put the project out for bid before suggesting Faithful+Gould.
KINGMAN
Western Arizona Humane Society is hosting Halloween Spook-Tacular activities for families from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the shelter, 950 Buchanan Street.
Pumpkin-carving contest along with raffles/prizes and a silent auction are planned.
Submit your carved/decorated pumpkin with a $5 entry fee by 9:30 a.m. Saturday to participate. Winners will be announced at noon.
