LAKE HAVASU CITY

According to Today's News-Herald, the Lake Havasu City Council fired City Manager Richard Kaffenberger by a 4-3 vote during a special meeting Tuesday night. The standing-room-only audience gave the decision a round of applause. City Communications and Intergovernmental Affairs Manager Charlie Cassens will replace Kaffenberger for one week until the council selects a new city manager at its next meeting on Oct. 27.

According to the News-Herald, Kaffenberger was fired after suggesting that the council approve a sewer project contract with Faithful+Gould. Kaffenberger allegedly did not follow state statutes and put the project out for bid before suggesting Faithful+Gould.
