KINGMAN - Residents in Chloride could be electing a new Water District Board member in March. On Friday, the Mohave County Elections Department filed a petition to recall Chloride Domestic Water Improvement District Board Member Tom Ridgeway, said Allen Tempert, elections director. The petition will be on the Board of Supervisor's Nov. 16 consent agenda.
The petition was filed with the Elections Department Sept. 25 after former CDWID chairman Katherine Woody and board member Bert Silverman raised questions about Ridgeway's actions.
Katherine, her husband Stephen Woody and Silverman allege that Ridgeway charged the water district for labor and supplies, took documents from the district office and held board meetings in violation of state open meeting laws.
Ridgeway denies the accusations and said Katherine and the board insisted that he be compensated for all expenses and labor he put in as a member of the board. Those expenses were submitted to and approved by the board. He also denied another allegation that he locked himself in the board office.
The petition was turned in with 101 signatures, with only 27 needed to be verified as registered voters within the improvement district for the recall to be placed on the March ballot, Tempert said. The County Recorder's Office and Elections Department only had to check the first 30 on the petition to find 27 valid signatures.
CDWID voters decide the matter in March. The Board of Supervisors will meet at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 16 in the County Administration Building, 700 W. Beale St.

I say let's water board all the Water Board members! What water? In 10 years there won't be ANY water in this all but dried up mining camp ghost town! So they elect new members. Very cosmopolitan! What a laugh.
