KINGMAN - Police have arrested a man they believe is responsible for the armed robbery of the Gas and Grub Friday.

Mohave County Sheriff's detectives arrested David Eugene Stock Jr., 34, of Kingman early Monday evening after serving a search warrant at Stock's residence in the 3600 block of E. Dove Lane.

Stock is suspected of robbing the Gas and Grub on Route 66 at E Diagonal Way just after 9 a.m. Friday. The suspect, who was described at the time as a Hispanic male, held two clerks at gunpoint and left with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Trish Carter, spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office, said the arrest was the result of "high-end detective work." She said detectives were able to match witness statements with information they already had on Stock, who has a criminal history.

"Computer systems are amazing these days," Carter said.

The Sheriff's Office served a search warrant on Stock's residence around 5 p.m. Monday and allegedly found the clothing worn during the robbery, along with some drug paraphernalia.

A security camera image released by police after the robbery showed the suspect wearing a unique black and blue flannel hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

Stock was booked in the Mohave County Jail for felony robbery but could face more charges.

I live in 'the' Birdalnd Butler area since 3 yrs ago. When I bought my home I had no idea what I was in for. However, since I have been here 'most' of the illigal activists have moved away due to me being more troubele than the drug sales were worth I suppose.

Anyway, I know some of the info the MCSO had to work with & regardless of what the general public believes they did a good job with what they had. Not what people believed was snitched. & those who don't like snitches.. could it be becuause you fear them?

The poor have to live where rents are cheapest. Unfortunatly a good portion of the criminal element will end up there as well. There are nice places in Birdland, unfortunatly, the sad condition of many of the places around them make it difficult to sell even if the owners wished to do so. With mobile homes you really have to stay on top of maintenance to prevent them from going downhill fast. Renters are less likely to do it, at least the ouside maintenance. And yes, there are methheads and criminals all over. The thing I have noticed is that in my neighborhood the local thugs are all living with relatives, like elderly parents.

Well, it's good that they caught one idiot, but there will be more, especially if.... scratch that....when the economy worsens.

Ummm there are still some good people in birdland!!!! Just because someone bought their home there 20 years ago, or because thats the most they can afford in rent does not make them criminals. Sheesh!!!! There are probably more tweekers and potheads in canyon shadows.

@ wonders

Did you really seriously expect that the MCSO and the KPD are putting themselves under even more scrutiny by establishing an Internal Affairs Department. I’m afraid the only way of ever getting the MCSO and KPD under control is to establish an independent oversight committee.

However, I know of nobody who has started a motion to establish such a committee, and personally would not know how to start one either. I suppose one would have to contact the city council and make such proposal.

But even if such committee is established to keep an eye on the MCSO and KPD that still leaves the City’s District Attorney’s Office that needs to be closer looked at as well as they too are part of our law enforcement. I don’t know how and who is going to scrutinize our judicial system here in Kingman and what authority would be needed to accomplish that.

All I know is that our entire law enforcement and judicial system needs to be scrutinized and closer looked at, and people who serve within the system held accountable for their actions.

I’m more than willing to support any legal effort that is focused and dedicated to this matter.

something doesnt add up. "they were able to match witness statements to information they already had on stock" what does that mean exactly? basically they got a warrant based on what a informant/snitch gave them. wow thats impressive. thats some real high end detective work.
