A heavy-duty tow truck had to be used to remove a steel I-beam from the cab of a semi-truck early Tuesday morning near milepost 10 on Highway 68. It took more than two hours and everything in their bag of tricks for the Bullhead City Fire Department to extricate the driver of the semi after he slammed into the back of another semi carrying steel I-beams. Both trucks were headed westbound on Highway 68 when the accident occurred around 2 a.m. According to BCFD, the I-beam came within inches of the conscious and trapped driver. The heavy-duty tow truck had to be called from Kingman to lift the I-beam and unpin the driver. The pinned driver was flown to Las Vegas for treatment. His condition is unknown. Highway 68 was closed for about three hours while crews worked to free the driver.

I drive 68 3 nights a week. I am always passed by truckers & 'most' other vihicles as I do the speed limits since an auto accident not of my fault that woke me up to fear. I have seen DPS patrol Golden Valley in vehicle or Camera frquently. I have only seen the camera on Union Pass one time & only seen rigs pulled over about 6 total times on Union Pass in a 3 year period though.
Not all, but a lot of the rigs ignore the posted 50 mph signs. Everyone else go like their life depends on it. it is a nutty drive for me whenever. But what really jerks my chain is when I have to drive 150 miles out of my way & be 2 hours late for work because of the morons who wreck on Union Pass. Not to mention the fuel & time lost at work that I get no compensation for. My husband is right. Big rigs shoud BE forced to go around on the I40 highway only.

I don't know, Reg....I just had 2 tractor trailers going at least 85mph+ past me in Golden Valley heading West. One was tailgating me while he was talking on his cell phone. It was actually quite scary.

Instead of DPS camping out on the 68 in golden valley all day long, maybe they need to camp some out on the hill and stop these drivers from driving like lunatics, because they drive way too fast down that hill

I passed by the aftermath about 10am and the truck was still there. By that time they had already flown the driver to the hospital and the beam was removed from the cab. I was so upset i thought for sure that poor driver was killed because I saw the extreme damage to the drivers side. I am so thankful he is alive! I hope he will recover fast, as his survival is surely a miracle.

Please help control traffic congestion in Kingman! We have several congested intersections in town. One is Rt66 and Stockton Hill/Hualapai Mtn. Every day I see a line of cars (every direction) trying to turn right, but blocked by a motorist waiting to go straight. If you want to drive through the intersection, PLEASE stay in the center lane! There is artificial congestion because the drivers cannot use the road system wisely. The left lane is for left turn only. The center lane is for straight traffic only (with the obvious exception), but the right lane is available for right on red or straight through the intersection. Please consider your driving habits and the impact to your town and the other drivers. PLEASE leave the right lane free for right on red turning movements. THX
