BULLHEAD CITY
Bullhead City Mayor Jack Hakim highlighted the city's park improvements, home rehabilitation programs, Colorado River water quality, street improvement projects, second bridge and the economy in his annual State of the City Address on Friday.
"We could get along better with fewer economists and more economizers. And, that's what we're doing." Hakim said.
The city was recently informed of an estimated $1.2 million shortfall in state tax revenue in the 2010-2011 budget year.

Havasu beer festival Saturday
LAKE HAVASU CITY - The 5th Annual Chillin' and Swillin' Beer Festival is from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Rotary Park ball fields in Lake Havasu City.
More than 20 microbreweries are expected to showcase a variety of handcrafted brews. Lake Havasu City children's charities are expected to receive more than $20,000 in proceeds from the event. Festival attendees pay an admission fee and can sample as many beers as they like. There will also be live entertainment, food vendors and a home brewers contest. Admission is $25 per person with advance ticket purchase, or $30 the day of the event. Designated drivers can attend for $5.
Volunteer tax helpers needed
KINGMAN - Volunteer training for the AARP Tax Program begins Jan. 11.

Range workshop date changed
KINGMAN - The workshop on range and monitoring management and the defense of rangeland will be held Nov. 19 in Kingman. It was previously scheduled for Nov. 17. For more information, call (928) 753-3788.

KHS tribute to veterans Nov. 10
KINGMAN - The Kingman High School Social Studies Department's annual "A Tribute to Veterans" program starts at 10:40 a.m. Nov. 10 in the Hilda Aguilar Center for the Performing Arts, 4182 Bank St. The program consists of music selections and presentations by students that pay tribute to the men and women who served in the armed forces.

why pay for milk when the cows give it away free?
Well, Peg, why don't you complain a little more so the Miner makes their online version of the newspaper a subscription only. That would work for me. In fact I insist that the Miner stop publishing a free online version. Then when you get up at 5:15 and can't get online to read the paper you can go find something more constructive to do with your time.

it is 5:15 am and my paper is not in my box -again! Thought i would read the free paper on line - maybe just not bother to re-new subscription! IE the article in the paper a few days ago - why buy the paper when you are giving it away free????
