Quilt winners announced
KINGMAN - The Kingman Quilters Guild's annual Quilt Show at the Mohave Museum of History and Arts was Oct. 3-10. Barbara McMichael won the raffle quilt. Blue ribbon winners included: Lucy Pewsey (2), Jan Ellwood, Patty Thorsen, Sally Cunningham, Sheri Martin and Gale Shaw (2). Red Ribbon winners were: Kim Redabaugh (2), Pandora Paterson, Marge Huber, Romona Trainor, Patty Thorsen, Jean Estes and Tony King. White Ribbon winners were: Alice Miller, Kim Radabaugh, Pandora Paterson, Margie Hubor, Jackie Bradley, Sheri Martin, Nancy Hilton and Millie Ruder (2). Kingman Mayor John Salem's Choice Award went to "Boot Scootin'" by Danna Uyehara.

Missing man stops by MCSO
KINGMAN - A man who was reported missing has been found following a miscommunication with his family.
The Mohave County Sheriff's Office took a report of a missing man last seen leaving the Mohave Mental Health Clinic Tuesday morning. Trish Carter with the Sheriff's Office said the 25-year-old man walked into the Sheriff's Office Wednesday and said he had neglected to tell his family that he had moved from their residence.
BLM seeks firefighters for summer
KINGMAN - The Bureau of Land Management is accepting applications for summer firefighting and dispatching positions for the 2010 fire season. Announcements open Nov. 17, and the early consideration deadline is Jan. 19. Applications must be submitted no later than April 20 to receive consideration.
The Colorado River District is recruiting for positions on fire crews in Lake Havasu City, Kingman and Yuma. Applications for BLM firefighting and dispatch positions nationwide must be submitted using the Office of Personnel Management's USAJOBS Web site (www.usajobs.opm.gov). For more information about and instructions for applying for a seasonal firefighting position, go to the BLM Arizona home page at www.blm.gov/az, "What We Do," and then select Fire. Click on the Firefighting Jobs and then select "How to Apply."
Salary for these positions ranges from $9 to $16 per hour depending on experience, with employment from mid-April through September. Applicants for BLM positions must complete a pre-employment drug screen and physical examination prior to appointment, and are subject to random drug-screen testing during their period of employment. They must also pass a work capacity test after entering on duty. This test consists of a three-mile walk over flat terrain carrying a 45-pound pack in 45 minutes or less.

The annual Amateur Radio Fall Fest starts at 7 a.m. Saturday on the west side of Centennial Park. Ham radio operators from around the state and the county will be attendance.
Prizes include a Yaesu FT-450AT HF radio, a Yaesu FT 7800 R duel band mobile radio and a Yaesu FT60R dual band handheld radio. There will also be two talk-in stations at 126.9400-151.4 and 448.6500-151.4.

The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality is looking for public input on the renewal of an air quality control permit for the El Paso Natural Gas, Co.'s Hackberry Compressor Station located about 20 miles east of Kingman and half a mile north of exit 71 on Interstate 40.
Materials related to the permit can be found at the Kingman City Clerk's Office, 310 N. Fourth St. or online at www.azdeq.gov/environ/air/permits/index.html.

Colorado River Ford at 3601 Stockton Hill Road will host a fundraiser for the Kingman Academy of Learning High School's basketball team from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday.
For each person who test drives a car at Colorado River Ford, the dealership will donate $20, up to a maximum $6,000, toward KAHS's travel expenses, which were subject to budget cuts this year.
