County crews to repair fencing in Dolan Springs

KINGMAN - County Public Works crews have a number of projects this week.

In Dolan Springs, crews will be repairing fencing along 23rd Street and blading roads. In Meadview, workers will be repairing Stillwater Drive and cleaning up storm damage.

In the Butler area, workers will be repairing pavement edges, shoulders and mowing weeds. In Valle Vista, crews will be clearing brush from around intersections to improve the line of sight for drivers. Public Works crews will also be cleaning out a wash in Valle Vista from Sugarloaf Street to Burro Drive. The project is expected to be finished by Christmas.

Blade trucks will be working routes in Golden Valley. Workers will be repairing shoulders, patching and sweeping streets in Verde Estates. Crews will also apply edge striping along Oatman Highway from milepost 26 to 32. Traffic will be reduced to one lane.

Q: *Why do we need SB1070 if Arizona law enforcement regularly turns over illegal aliens to Border Patrol agents already. With SB1070 the Arizona taxpayers will pay all the costs that go along with an arrest under state law. If law enforcement can already detain illegal aliens and simply turn them over to the feds, why should we pay all these extra costs in these times?

Q: * Eighteen states and the District of Columbia were named finalists Tuesday in the second round of the federal "Race to the Top" school reform grant competition, giving them a chance to receive a share of $3.4 billion. The states are: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and South Carolina.
