KINGMAN - A man police believe is responsible for at least two armed robberies struck again Monday, this time hitting a downtown Kingman business.

Police believe 41-year-old Victor Jay Malaro is responsible for the armed robbery at the Healthy Habits health foods store at the corner of Beale and West Fifth streets Monday afternoon.

Sgt. Bob Fisk said Malaro entered the store just before 3 p.m. and pointed a gun at a female employee. Malaro was identified based on his description. Fisk said he made off with less than $200.

White Cliffs Middle School was shut down briefly while dozens of police units and the Department of Pubic Safety helicopter patrolled the area, but Malaro was not located.

Malaro has been identified as the suspect in two other armed robberies, including a robbery at the National Bank of Arizona in Bullhead City Nov. 18 and a robbery at the National Bank of Arizona in Golden Valley Oct. 16.

Malaro is described as a white male adult, 5-foot-8, approximately 145 pounds with dark, short hair. He is considered armed and dangerous.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Malaro's arrest. Anyone with information is asked to contact Mohave Silent Witness at (888) 227-8780.

I think i will start an armed guard company with all the garbage going on. My parents have a shop right around the corner from where this happened. Believe me, trying to rob them will not be pretty.

Palo Christi Elementary was also on lockdown. The children had to lock the doors and hide under desks. I was walking downtown= and it was the one time I wasn't carrying a firearm with me...I was kicking myself for not. This guy could have grabbed someone in an alley and used them as a hostage. I'm just wondering why these guys keep getting away. It's starting to getting embarassing.

The article states White Cliffs was on lock-down, when in fact the school in question was Palo Christi.

I wish we could help more. I wish there were some way for the police to communicate with the citizens about who they are seeking. Living downtown, I watched the cops search, but had no idea who they were looking for.... jail escape? a car? person on foot? male? female? lost child? We don't want the perps listening in, but a radio news alert or loudspeaker on the chopper? I realize that buying a police scanner would resolve this, and the police don't want a bunch of vigilanties mixing in, but we could help if we knew what they were looking for.

[Deleted]. This guy looks like he has a felony rap sheet 10 miles long! He's gonna get caught. He's already made the mistake of staying in the area.
