KINGMAN
Six people escaped injury after a house fire in the 200 block of Park Street just after 10:30 p.m. Sunday. Firefighters with the Kingman Fire Department found a fire in the hallway near a wall heater located on the first floor. They were able to contain the fire in the wall and keep it from spreading to the second floor. Six people, including four adults and two children, were in the home at the time.
One adult male re-entered to try to extinguish the fire with a garden hose but was removed by firefighters. The occupants were referred to the American Red Cross for temporary shelter. The fire was caused by a cracked combustion chamber in the wall heater, which allowed flames to contact framing materials.
