KINGMAN
Nomination forms for Women Making History awards are available at the Mohave County Library, Mohave Community College and the Mohave Museum of History and Arts. Nomination deadline is Jan. 15. Award winners will be honored at 2 p.m. March 7 at the museum. Nomination categories are the arts, business, education, homemaking, pioneering, professions, public service, religion and volunteer contributions. Monetary donations to help the Women Making History Committee continue its work of recognizing the contributions of local women can be mailed to: Women Making History Committee, C/O Desert de Oro Foods, P.O. KINGMAN
The Audubon Society's 2009 Christmas Bird Count will take place at the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge on Tuesday and the Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge on Wednesday. Those interested can attend one or both of the counts. There is a $5 cost for participation to help offset the cost of publishing the results and maintaining the Christmas Bird Count Web site at www.audubon.org/bird/cbc. A meeting for the Havasu count is at 6 p.m. Monday at the Topock Marina Restaurant, 1499 U.S. 95, exit 1 off Interstate 40. For more information, call (928) 758-2707 or e-mail poncho@citlink.net. KINGMAN
Kingman Regional Medical Center will sponsor a Health and Nutrition Expo from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 9 in the Medical Professional Center of Kingman and Del E. Webb Wellness Center conference rooms. The event is free. More than 25 organizations will participate, offering screenings and information to enhance the health and well-being of people in the community. Attendees will be offered nutrition tips, vision and hearing tests, and more. Arizona Youth Partnership will also be on hand with their "Dump the Drugs" program, where people are encouraged to bring in their old prescription drugs so they can be properly disposed of.
