KINGMAN - A lieutenant with the Mohave County Sheriff's Office is on administrative leave after he was arrested for domestic violence earlier this week.
Lt. Ron Weber was arrested Monday following an incident Sunday evening in which it is alleged he committed an act of domestic violence by assault against his wife, a detective with the Kingman Police Department.
The criminal complaint is being handled by the Lake Havasu Police Department because of Weber and the victim's connection to local law enforcement.
Sgt. Joe Harrold with the Lake Havasu Police Department said he was unable to provide details of the incident because witness interviews are still being conducted. Harrold said Weber was taken into custody around 4 p.m. Monday at the Kingman Police Department, but he declined to give specifics of the arrest.
Weber was subsequently booked into the Mohave County Jail. Charges were filed Tuesday in the Kingman Municipal Court.
Trish Carter, spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office, said that the incident is under review by both the Sheriff's Office and the Mohave County Human Resources division. The Sheriff's Office is also conducting its own internal investigation.
Weber will remain on administrative leave pending the completion of the investigation, at which time a decision on his status with the agency will be made, Carter said. Weber is a 22-year veteran of the Sheriff's Office. He has served as lieutenant for a little more than a year.

Instead of pointing fingers why don't we pray for this couple to be able to heal the wounds and save the marrige and family...i do not believe in hitting women, but I do know that there is always two sides to every story. Please say a pray for them...

Letta, use this as a stepping stone to improve law enforcement
Rex: You are so right on! Can you imagine how we pee-ons suffer at the hands of some of the rookie officers and detective around here! I say educate them more, along with several ethics classes!!!!!! If you are feeling compassion for Mr. Weber (and you SHOULD), just think about what "we the people" endure in our dealings with some of them!

Holidays are a stressful time, for all people and domestic violence is hidden well; innocent until proven guilty. Even people in mansions have secrets.

In reference to Lieutenant Weber, Sheriff Sheahan I’m very disappointed in you Ron has been one of your best officers in your department for 22 yrs. and has made positive changes in your department and has not even been investigated for any type of excessive force before and has a clean record. You know that Ron wouldn’t do anything like this unless it was self defense and you have just through him under the bus for your own selfishness political reasons. One thing about Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is that he stands behind his deputy’s unlike you. Lake Havasu P.D. Chief Doyle you are responsible for this botched investigation that will probably end this officer’s great career, you should have sent veteran officers with very good investigation skills not officers with rookie investigation skills. Your investigators arrested the victim in this case nice job!
Arizona Revised Statute states the following:
13-404.A Justification; self-defense
A person is justified in threatening or using physical force against another when and to the extent a reasonable person would believe that physical force is immediately necessary to protect himself against the other's use or attempted use of unlawful physical force.

Its really sad that this kind of negative reaction would come from the that Mr Weber protected! NO ONE is perfect! If he is convicted of this crime, he will pay the price. But we need to remember that the Webers are very good people. Always involved in the community and giving back to our town. We need to remember that the miner only reports parts of a story. NO ONE KNOWS what really happened except those involved. Before you point your finger at someone, or cast a stone, look at yourself in the mirror. It's a shame that such negativity would always come from the same people that break the laws themself.

Dangerous officer off the streets
He thought he was above the law. All that matters is he will be found guilty and hopefully his wife will be his exwife. Take their child away until he gets help for his anger. If an officer will act this way to a family member then how does he behave with others. He knows the law and he broke the law and he will pay for what he has done if there is justice. I see names and pictures in the paper of others who have or have not done the crime. He put himself in this situation. He assaulted his wife, who is a KPD officer. Which was mostlikely not the first time. This town has had too many DV. When will the court say thats enough and get tuff on these abusers. If a Sheriffs Lt. who knows the law doesn't stop before he hits or a police office, who has seen other DV victims at her job, doesn't leave an abusive spouse then how in the world do all this others find help. He thought he was above the law and that is a dangerous cop...He up holds the law but doesn't follow the law. Wow. I trust our Sheriff to do whats right and I'm sure KPD will be there for their fellow officer. She is the one left with the scars inside and out. She is the one who has to explain to their child.

Ron and his familly are good people they have jobs like everyone else. And they have both had there jobs for a very long time, It is to bad that the minor did this because they do care a lot about how the public judges them. People complain about the law but where would we be without it, Not everyone is perfect, Good luck Weber familly.

To all of you small town people (I grew up in one as well), why don't you all wait to hear the FACTS before you convict this guy? You have such small town mentality it really is pathetic! Since his wife is a detective, what makes you think SHE didn't start this whole thing and he was actually defending himself...? She has the SAME COP defensive training as he does, right? What kind of a cop is she if she can't take down a man? Isn't that part of her job description? I don't believe in a man hitting a woman, but something doesn't sound right here.

Yes, well said Mrs. Watson, however this should be applied to other people who have troubles in this town, not just some. We seem to be good at kicking people when their down. This family has good income. Think of the poor guy on the south side of the tracks who has no career and may have lost his minimum wage job. He might be suffering some stress too. Domestic violence is always wrong no doubt. But if this poor guy gets picked up for it, he is going to be labeled as scum, pay a bunch of fines (with NO job) and probably do 4 months in prison. We seem to want to take away any hope from our downtrodden. We seem to only have compassion for the "good" citizens that get into trouble. Equality, that is what we REALLY need in this town! We need judges who have the backbone to treat us all equally.

for those of you that are still confused or misinformed about the subject of whether or not someone convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence case I submit this...
[Copyrighted material deleted. Link to material here: http://secondamendmentfreedom.blogspot.com/2009/11/man-convicted-of-domestic-violence-wins.html]
It appears the federal Lautenberg law, and all similar laws will eventually reach the SCOTUS. It also appears there is now a federal court precedent made, which bodes well for anyone contesting this law. Considering the SCOTUS recent stance on anti-second amendment laws( They ruled against them) it appears this will be another win for those that believe in freedom.

Shame on the minor for targeting Mr. Weber. If the minor reported all domestic violence, the paper would be as large as a big city paper. We do not know the facts and have no right to judge him. Growing up with domestic violence in my family, I do know what the outcome can be very unfair and sometimes the wrong person takes the fall. Please keep in mind it is not always the male that is the aggressor in domestic violence.

About not being able to carry a weapon......Thats were the plea agreements come in handy in our town. In between golf and lunch, the defender and the prosecutor will have him plead guilty to something entirely different. A charge that is allowed to have a weapon. Don't get me wrong , I'm all for helping people. Some mandatory couseling and such is in order. And I don't want to see the guy lose his job, he is a good cop. My ONLY beef with Mohave County is the unfairness. It needs to start HELPING the common man (like it does certain people in the town). A 4 to 6 month prison sentence is very common in domestic violence. I don't want that for him, I just would like to see some equality for us ALL! The judges need to start helping people (even us commoners and unchosen ones) when it is possible and protecting us from people who are hopeless. Stop letting the bad ones go because they rat or will testify on someone. Is it fair that Marcus is locked up for 21 years and his co-defendent jessie is free because he said he would testify? He was just as guilty. We need some fairness and equality in our courtrooms in this town.

Lets not pass judgement. These people need our prayers for their marriage, careers and family right now. For all the below critical people if your lives were put on the front page of a newspaper, I am sure you would have some explaining to do.
We should be helping The Weber family with out prayers not being cruel.

It does not sound like this case has even gone to court yet and you people have him convicted and sentenced. What happens if the wife say's she made it all up? Why is it there is a nice big picture of this guy in the paper? If he is guilty and is found so in court, than post his picture everywhere but untill this is proven give this guy a break! The truth will come out and some could wind up with egg on their judgmental faces.

I find it very strange that a small minority of people (and often the same people) complain about harassment and abuses by all the various branches of Law Enforcement and the Justice system here.
Could it be because all of those involved in Law Enforcement KNOW that the complainers are involved in illegal activities? Or are friends with those involved? Lie down with dogs....ya know?
I won't include the person that had helicopters over his house in LV...cause he's probably just a paranoid schizophrenic.
To address the article...of course it should be reported... just as if a prominent businessman...or a Council member had done the same thing. Public figures will receive more space than Jose Smith...who may only be listed in the 911 section. And maybe his bail was less...ever heard of personal recognizance? Unemployed itinerant habitual offenders don't get it...upstanding citizens who made an error often do.
And btw...most states have laws on the books that REQUIRE an arrest...even if no one wants to press charges. A bruised arm or a contusion is more than enough...and if both parties have any such injuries..it's up to the responding officer who goes to the pokey.
One last thing...all I can find about the gun laws is that if someone is put on probation after being found guilty of Domestic Violence...they cannot possess a firearm during that time....nothing about forever.

I just had to state here that I find it delightfully entertaining that this is the only news piece that got any attention. Not to mention 3 pages of it. Don't judge other's unless ye be judged in kind. The investigation is just getting under way & the kingman uderbelly has already convicted this man. God help us all!

It sounds like they didn't think about their child or this incident would never have happened. They would have both volunteer for counceling. The child is the one who will suffer the most and I'm sure that realization has hit home.

"As much as I hate it admit it, even a corrupt Sheriff’s Deputy deserves the benefit of the doubt and should remain innocent until proven guilty."
Are you the one who keeps saying our Mayor and Council are corrupt? What proof do you share on that? Talk about being hypocritical!

When does the cover up begin KDM?
I'm wondering if he spent a pleasant evening in lockdown with other inmates... sleeping on cold floors with no heat and no jacket... with trash on the floors or, did they make allowances for him and put him in a cushy cell all by himself with a blanket, pillow and food.

“good work daily miner on reporting may be this report will help with getting our courupt sheriff and some of the wife abusing and spouse cheating super cops that think they are above the law out of duttie”
I agree, good that the Kingman Daily Miner at least posted this story. Reporter Erin Taylor is usually right on top of things. Unfortunately, the commentaries to the story seem to be heavily censored.
My last commentary to this news story was to 90% deleted leaving one distorting sentence to be published. Makes one wonder what or who else was censored.
Maybe I just should have said: “Now how does it feel being judged and “sentenced” beforehand, [deleted].”
Let’s hope this commentary makes it through the censorship.

I decided not to use a quote from you. To be fair I would have to cut and paste it complete with allcaps. I have always considered anyone who does that little more than a clown. Funny, I have never seen you expressing your outrage when the Miner runs a story on some average Joe. If the Lt. is a friend of yours....tough. Wonder what he will do for a job if he is found guilty and cannot carry a gun any longer? I wonder, but I don't care. Hold him to the same standards as the rest of us.

We all know that D.V is a horrible thing that no one is immune to. I do not know what happened behind their closed doors..its not my place to know, and DANG sure isnt my place OR ANYONE elses to judge them. I know that this kind of thing is public information, but I wish in a way it wasnt..at least until PROVEN GUILTY in a court of law.It is devastating to the family, esp. children. Please dont think inanyway I am defending Ron Weber because in all honesty, our paths have crossed before, and I thought he was rather rude to me, butwhats right is right. We need tosay a prayer forthe whole family, and stop being so judgmental.
