U.S. 93 NEAR HOOVER DAM
Work to widen U.S. 93 to four lanes leading up to Hoover Dam will cause travel delays this week, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Blasting will take place at milepost 2.7 today. Motorists can expect hour-long travel delays until 4 p.m. and are advised to plan accordingly and use an alternate route when possible. Blasting will take place at milepost 2.7 again at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with hour-long delays anticipated. Crews are continuing paving operations along the new southbound alignment. Paving operations start at milepost 17 and move north through the project to milepost 10. Paving of this phase is anticipated to be complete by March 31. Motorists can expect 15-minute delays during asphalt deliveries.

VALLE VISTA
Kingman Regional Medical Center will celebrate the opening of its newest facility - the Valle Vista Medical Center - from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Residents will have an opportunity to view the new facility and meet Nurse Practitioner Patti Stanton. Light refreshments will be served. The Center is located at 7264 Concho Drive, Suite A. Stanton will be available to meet the healthcare needs of area residents from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Stanton is a graduate of the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, Family Nurse Practitioner Program. LAUGHLIN
The two victims of Wednesday's crash at the Edgewater Hotel and Casino in Laughlin have been identified as 74-year-old Helene Walker of Mesa and 81-year-old Helen Hindman of Lincoln, Neb. The 70-year-old driver who crashed his car into the casino Wednesday morning said he blacked out just prior to the accident. Walter McGie of Kelso, Wash., told Las Vegas Metro Police that he has a history of blackouts and is taking seizure medication. McGie is charged with two counts of felony reckless driving resulting in death. He was arrested and released on $6,000 bond the day after the accident.

Valle Vista GOP meets
VALLE VISTA - Dr. Laurence Schiff and Ray Cullison are the guest speakers for the new Valle Vista Republican Club when it meets at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday in the clubhouse. Cullison is running for state representative and will discuss his platform and economic development. Schiff is a key figure in Republican politics in Kingman and will discuss the direction the party needs to take. The cost is $10 per person and includes dinner. Singer performs Friday
KINGMAN - William Harness, a singer with a four-octave range, performs at 7 p.m. Friday at Kingman Presbyterian Church, 2425 Detroit Ave. Williams' performance will be interlaced with drama and testimony. Sales tax workshop Feb. 17
KINGMAN - Business owners, bookkeepers and accountants in businesses that deal with contracting, are invited to a Sales Tax for Contracting workshop from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 17 at the MCC Neal Campus-Kingman. The facilitator, Audrey McGhee, has more than 26 years of experience working for the Arizona Department of Revenue in the Tax Auditing and Education Division. Job fairs start Wednesday
KINGMAN - A series of 12 three-hour Wednesday job fairs starts at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 12 at Cerbat Lanes, 3631 Stockton Hill Road. The job fairs are only for the unemployed and limited to the first 120 who sign up. Gymkhana set for Feb. 20
KINGMAN - The next DMS Events gymkhana will be held starting at 9 a.m. Feb. 20 at GrayWood Stables, 2576 Calle Chavez (mile marker 14 on North Stockton Hill Road). The gymkhana is open to all ages and skill levels, and entry fees range from $20 to $30 depending on age group.
