'Suspicious' fire investigated in Kingman

This home on Fairfax Street was damaged by fire Thursday morning.

KINGMAN - The Kingman Fire Department snuffed out a mobile home fire in the 3300 block of Fairfax Street early Thursday morning.

Two paramedic engines and the on-duty battalion chief initially responded, but after seeing the smoke and flames coming from the fire, the department dispatched a third engine, said Battalion Chief Bill Johnston. Firefighters confined the blaze to the mobile home, and no one was harmed.

Two people and a dog live in the home, which suffered extensive smoke and fire damage, but one of them was not home at the time of incident. The dog alerted the person who was in the home and both were able to get out safely, Johnston said.

Based on a preliminary investigation, KFD is calling the fire's origin "suspicious," Johnston said.

The investigation is ongoing and an update should be available today. Anyone with information about the fire is encouraged to call (928) 753-2891.
