One airlifted to Vegas after GV crash

This 1987 Dodge Dakota rolled in the desert Friday after its driver misjudged a curve on Shinarump Drive in Golden Valley.

 A 50-year-old Golden Valley man failed to negotiate a curve Friday on Shinarump Drive approximately two miles west of Oatman Road and ended up traveling 200 feet off the paved road and rolling the 1987 Dodge Dakota truck he was driving.

The Mohave County Sheriff's Office and Golden Valley Fire Department responded to the accident at about 11:40 a.m. Friday and found the driver, Timothy Laine Morgan, outside the vehicle lying on the ground. He had not been wearing his seatbelt.

The vehicle's passenger, 60-year-old Wayne Layton Gosselin of Golden Valley, was found sitting in the vehicle's passenger seat. He had been wearing his seatbelt, said MCSO spokeswoman Trish Carter.

The accident is currently under investigation, and speed may be a factor, Carter said. A sample of Morgan's blood was taken and will be analyzed as well.

"(Morgan) was possibly driving a little too fast," Carter said.

The posted speed limit in the area is 45 mph.

Both men were transported by ambulance to the Kingman Regional Medical Center, and Gosselin was later airlifted to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas.

The driver possibly suffered several broken ribs and the passenger may have sustained some fractures to his back, Carter said.
