Annual Laughlin River Run starts today


The annual Laughlin River Run gets under way today and continues through the weekend.

KINGMAN - Thousands of motorcyclists will be rolling through town this morning heading for the Colorado River and the Laughlin River Run.

The annual motorcycle rally starts at noon today and runs through Sunday. It has vendor exhibits, nightly concerts, a custom bike contest, two poker runs for charity and the Ms. Laughlin River Run contest.

Event passes are $25 and include a T-shirt, a pin, admission to Saturday's Early Bird poker run and entry to the custom bike show or the Ms. Laughlin contest.

Kingman's Mother Road Harley-Davidson and Route 66 Motorsports will host their annual American Heroes Charity Poker Run on Friday. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Tropicana Express, 2121 S. Casino Dr.

The run starts at 10 a.m.

There is a minimum $10 donation and the money supports local veterans.

The first place winner gets a 2014 River Run room package, second place gets a $250 Harley-Davidson gift certificate and third place gets a $100 Harley-Davidson gift certificate.

Mother Road will also host its annual Laughlin River Run party with food, vendors and live music Thursday through Saturday at its location at 2501 Beverly Ave. in Kingman.

A second poker run, the Early Bird Poker Run, starts at 8 a.m. Saturday with registration at the Poker Room on the Colorado Belle, 2100 S Casino Dr.

Awards are at 4 p.m. and include $1,500 in cash and gift certificates.

The custom bike contest is Saturday on the main deck of the Colorado Belle Casino. Registration starts at 8 a.m.

Judging and viewing of the bikes starts at 11 a.m. and the awards are at 3 p.m.

The first place winner receives $750, second place gets $500 and third place gets $250.

The Ms. Laughlin contest is at 4 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Roadhouse, 1650 S. Casino Drive.

Contestants must be 21 years old and have registered for the contest at the Riverside Resort. Registration starts at 8 a.m. Thursday through Saturday morning.

The first place winner receives $1,500, second place $1,000 and third place $100.

The fun continues into the evening with concerts from country/western singers Mickey Gilley; Travis Tritt; Blood, Sweat and Tears with Foghat; Rad Co., a tribute band for Bad Company; Creedence Clearwater Revisited; and the Iron Maidens, a female Iron Maiden tribute band.
