Two girls, 10, reportedly started Sunday fire
By Doug McMurdo
KINGMAN - A 10-year-old girl reportedly admitted that she and her friend, also 10, started a fire that destroyed an abandoned singlewide trailer Sunday afternoon in the 3200 block of Snavely Avenue.
The girl told deputies she and her friend would set a mattress on fire and then stomp on it to put it out before the fire got away from them.
The fire was called in at about 3:30 p.m. and it took crews from the Northern Arizona Consolidated Fire District between five and 10 minutes to extinguish the blaze.
There were no injuries reported. Witnesses told deputies they saw two girls run away from the home shortly after the fire began.
The case has been submitted to juvenile probation authorities.
