Funny money no good for bail
Golden Valley woman jailed after counterfeit bills found in home

Suzanne Adams
Miner Staff Reporter

GOLDEN VALLEY - One Golden Valley woman's alleged attempt to have her husband home for the holidays had her joining him in jail.

While investigating a rash of counterfeit bills in the area, the Mohave County Sheriff's Office received a tip that led deputies to serve a search warrant on Dec. 10 on a home in the 3500 block of Chino Drive in Golden Valley.

A search revealed counterfeit $1, $10, $20 and $100 bills, paper, printing material and a printer. Approximately 12 counterfeit bills were seized.

Deputies arrested Jo Ellen Renee French, 26, on suspicion of felony forgery and fraudulent schemes/artifices. She was taken into custody and booked into the county jail.

Deputies believe Jo Ellen French was attempting to bail her husband Levi French out of jail using the counterfeit money through a bail bondsman. MCSO does not believe the operation is connected with any other counterfeit money in the area.

Levi Jerimiah French, 28, is incarcerated at the county jail on felony charges of possession of dangerous drugs for sale, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia from an arrest in November.

Additional charges of felony forgery, fraudulent schemes/artifices and conspiracy were brought against Levi French due to his possible connection with the counterfeit money.
