Police nab suspected bank robber
Victor Malaro

KINGMAN - Victor Malaro's alleged one-man crime wave ended Thursday after he was arrested hours after a bank robbery on Stockton Hill Road.

Malaro was tracked down by a Mohave County Sheriff's K-9 handler behind the Chevron Station on West Beale Street four hours after he allegedly held up the Mohave State Bank around 11 a.m. "It's a big relief to have him in custody," said Sgt. Bob Fisk with the Kingman Police Department.

Malaro was found in possession of a gun when he was arrested, but no gun was displayed during Thursday's robbery. Instead, he showed clerks an improvised device that he left behind on the counter. Fisk said the device had no blasting caps and was not an active explosive device.

Malaro was tracked to the area by dozens of police units after his vehicle was found downtown. The police will release further information at a news conference today.

Police believe the 41-year-old Malaro is responsible for at least three other robberies since October, including two separate National Bank of Arizona locations in Golden Valley and Bullhead City and a health food store in downtown Kingman.

Malaro is also a "person of interest" in the armed robbery of the King Tut's mini-mart on Highway 68 Nov. 11. A 19-year-old clerk in that incident was shot after police say he didn't move fast enough for the suspect's liking.

Malaro is also wanted for a home invasion in San Bernardino County Sept. 9. The Sun reported that Malaro and 44-year-old Fred Allen Nash broke into a Highland home while three adults and two children were inside. The two men allegedly robbed the homeowners at gunpoint and fled in a dark-colored SUV.

Nash was arrested Nov. 11 after the car he was riding in was pulled over after leaving a casino in Laughlin.

Malaro's last known address is in Golden Valley. He was pulled over by a deputy with the Mohave County Sheriff's Office on Zuni Drive in Golden Valley Aug. 8 and found to be in possession of a stolen Bersa 380 automatic pistol that Malaro said he bought at a swap meet.

Yes, he will probably cop a plea deal with the county attorney. He'll say that the girls dressed up like him and did the crime. He will promise to testify against them. They will then let him go for a mere $100 dollars and sentence the gals to 21 years. It will be a repeat of Marcus and Jessie. This time the star testifier will be Victor. Is he related to Jessie? Way to go prosecutors!!!!!! You believe them judge! We aren't going to let justice happen in our town! No not in our town! Give him one of the best lawyers in town (at the expense of the county) and give the girls a wanna be public defender (who wants to please the county) and sit back and watch the show begin!

Mine does not. How many times in the past did his family bail him out of jail and take care of him in the past. If they did, they are just typical enablers.

@ Liberal Lion

Fortunately, Sheriff Joe Arpaio from Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has nothing to do with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), at least not officially, besides both being so called Arizona Law Enforcement Agencies.

Unofficially, Sheriff Tom Sheahan’s methods and he’s Sheriff’s Deputy here in Mohave County seem just as corrupt and unconstitutional as Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s methods in Maricopa County. Probably the biggest difference between the two is that Sheriff Joe Arpaio once might have had the best intentions but completely lost perspective of right and wrong, while Sheriff Tom Sheahan never even seems to care.

The Liberal Lion has nothing to say that makes since, so he/she spouts off!

Sheriff Joe may not be right on some things, but defending the constitution against law breakers is not one of them, He is right on target!

I still say Liberal Lion is a conflict in terms, crawl away from standing up to the real problems in this Country, like liberalism it is a form of insanity!

Republicans have some problems example is the M.C.A.Office, and its supporting waist of money on unfounded investigations!

Liberal Lion, We don't know what the heck you are talking about, so it's hard to reply. If your rights are being violated you should get an attorney. I find it very hard to believe that Sherrif Joe is going in your house and going through your personal stuff without some sort of just cause/warrant, etc. Are you sure you don't have a serious case of paranoia?

The cops and courts care about CERTAIN people. Let us hope that he is not one of them. It would just be nice to see a little fairness in the system. It sure looks like this guy deserves NO mercy.

However, you can't pigeon-hole all the people who get into trouble. There should also be a little more concern with certain people getting police and court privledges. This is America, we are all supposed to be treated equally. The people running the town should not be getting special treatment, it has gone on too long!

You people bashing the County so realize that bank robbery is a federal crime and now the FBI will get involved and he will more than likely be tried for that in Federal Court in Prescott. The other robberies will be tried here in the county, non bank related. There will be no plea deal from the Feds.

I'll tell you who the loon is. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Let me put it in terms that you conservatives can understand. Suppose Obama tommorrow sent the FBI in to your house and took all your guns. You would argue that is a violation of your Constitutional rights to privacy as well as to bear arms, right?

Well Sheriff Joe is now going through people's private files and violating their right to privacy as well as right to counsel, again both in the same Constitution as the right to bear arms. But not one single comment from you conservatives.

Well we arrested one robber. What about arresting Sherriff Joe, for stealing a defense attorney's file, violating attorney client privelege, and violating privacy rights? Arrest the true perp.

Ah he'll cop a plea deal with the county attorney. He'll probably get probation and community service.

Don't worry folks, he'll be out doing home invasions and robberies again in no time thanks to our cowardly judges.

Citizens beware...be prepared to protect yourselves and your families from this type of criminal [behavior]. The cops and courts surely don't care about public safety around here.
