Video: Mohave County Parks held the 2nd annual Santa's Hualapai Wonderland at Hualapai Mountain Park over two weekends, Dec. 12-13 and 19-20. Santa was available for photos. Kids and their families could roast marshmallows, make arts and crafts, go on hayrides, drink some hot chocolate and enjoy the snow still in the Hualapais from a recent storm. Here is some video from the event filmed on Dec. 19th, 2009. Singing "Jingle Bells" while waiting in line to meet Santa are Grace and Ben Edwards and Dylan Good.

The Kingman Fire Department was able to provide the Miner and its readers with this video of the Motel 6 fire on Andy Devine Avenue. The video was taken from a camera on the helmet of one of the firefighters involved in fighting the fire. The fire started early morning Sunday, May 10, 2009 and quickly engulfed 18 rooms and the roof at the hotel.

Video: Kingman Mayor John Salem leads a square-dancing procession Saturday at the Kathryn Heidenreich Adult Center during the Kingman Kutups 2009 Spring Jubilee. The 29th annual event was held there Friday and Saturday, and people came from places as far as California and Las Vegas to dance. The Kingman Kutups square-dancing club has been in this area for at least 50 years, going under the name of the Kiddlehoppers, the Swingin' Hillbillies and then the Moonlighters before settling on their current name. Arland Miller, from Calif., was the caller for the event and Barbara Lopez from Prescott was quer. | Easter Egg Hunt 2009 |
Video: Kingman Parks and Recreation held its annual Easter Egg hunt in Centennial Park Saturday (the earlier hunt in Metcalfe Park was canceled due to rain). Despite the weather, hundreds of people showed up to hunt for eggs, prizes and participate in an egg toss held afterward. The egg toss winners were Todd Winebarger and Zak Dawley. Wal-Mart provided the candy and prizes.

Video: Meadowlark Lemon and "Meadowlark Lemon's Harlem All Stars Comedy Basketball Game" visited Kingman on Friday, March 20th at Kingman High School. The former Harlem Globetrotter played with Tyrone "Hollywood" Brown and Pee Wee Harrison in addition to many local people, including the Miner's very own sports writer Shawn Byrne. Kingman Elks Lodge #468 sponsored the event, which raised funds for community projects like sports programs for kids. Lemon's All Stars played against the Kingman Fire Department's Blazers, winning by about a 20-point lead.

Video: Jan. 26th was Chinese New Year. In celebration, the Traditional Hung Gar Academy of Kingman- School of Southern Shaolin Boxing held a lion dance and kung-fu demonstration at the Hunan Buffet Chinese Restaurant on Kino Ave. The Lion Dance is a traditional New Year costumed dance. The lion eats greens (in this case it ate a bok choy) for prosperity. This is a southern lion. Northern lions look different. Audience members can "feed" the lion red envelopes containing money if they want to tip the performers for their dance. The lion featured here had several dancers in it at different times as it performed both inside and outside the restaurant.
