Marden B. ‘Chuck’ Chlarson Jr.

Marden B. "Chuck" Chlarson Jr. was born June 29, 1944. After a valiant fight against cancer, the Lord called him home on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2009. He was strong in his beliefs in his country, serving 30 years in the military. He was active in the Marine Corps League, Vietnam Veterans of America, American Legion, Elks, VFW, Rotary and local politics.

His belief in honoring our veterans was extremely important to him and was very instrumental in his designing, getting built and dedicating the Veterans Memorial at Locomotive Park. His belief in youth of today prompted him to organize and start up the Toys for Tots program, which is an official affiliation of the Marine Corps Reserve.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Marden B. 'Zeke' Chlarson Sr. and Bobbye Dean Channel Chlarson; a son, Brian Chlarson; and grandson, Marden B. Chlarson IV. Surviving are the love of his life, his wife, Lea Eastman Chlarson; sister and brother-in-law, Sana and Warren Louis; son, Marden B. 'Mardy' Chlarson III; daughter, Cari Chlarson; three grandchildren; and two nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 8, at the Kingman Elks Lodge, 900 Gates Ave. All attending are encouraged to share pictures, memories and stories.
