Like most of you, I was fascinated to learn about Mohave County's unique policy which allows officials to suspend a citizen's 1st Amendment rights at the county's discretion. How lucky are we to live here?
I mean, what other government body would have the chutzpah to kick the U.S. Constitution into the toilet, then to get their attorney to sign off on the assault? That takes some big cojones. Even when you know it's complete stupidity on the part of the county, you've got to admire the passion behind their ignorance. They actually think they're right.
If our county gurus can enact a policy that even Adolf Hitler would be proud to call his own, I wondered what other policies they had put together to trample the rights of citizens.
You're not going to believe what I found.
Some of you thought the arrogance county officials display toward citizens was simply a natural effect of the perceived power they adopted after they were elected or hired. Nope. It seems there's a policy that covers this. The policy requires all county officials to "treat citizens like cattle."
Section 7, paragraph 5, succinctly covers this:
1. All citizens are stupid and should be treated as such at all times.
Exceptions to rule No. 1:
a. Citizens with a lot of money
b. Vegas swindlers
c. John McCain
For those of you wondering why there's so many county roads not paved, well, there's a policy for that. Section 15, paragraph 3, under the header, "Do As Little As Possible," explains it well:
"At no time shall the county have more than one-quarter of its roadways paved. The reason is covered in Section 7, Paragraph 5 above. If for some reason the county exceeds this amount, divert washes to destroy the overage."
I was completely blown away when I stumbled onto this ditty:
"If at any time a citizen attempts to 'stand up for his/her rights,' that person MUST be ignored, then called names, then discredited. If that doesn't work, try intimidation. Remember, citizens are cattle that must be maneuvered with a stick, or barring a stick, an electrical prod."
When the county Planning & Zoning Commission recently suspended the Call to the Public, I ignorantly thought it was because they hate the public. I stand corrected. They were just following policy.
According to Section 18, Paragraph 6, all county officials "should search for ways to limit input from the citizenry, especially ones who lambast officials about the depletion of water, since we all know there's ample water for any and every development proposed for the area."
So, the next time someone at the county treats you like something they scraped off their shoe, don't get angry.
They're just following policy.

You are one to talk about citizen rights Borgard.
You cut, delete, and refuse to publish certain issues brought up by the citizens of this fine county because you are worried about clouding your reputation with the very politicians you are now claiming to be writing in opposition to.
You are nothing but a hypocrite!

If any one thinks that this is a flash in the pan activism, well some thought that about the tea party patriots too !! and now all the constitutional supporters known as 'WE THE PEOPLE' are standing tall and strong and will not fade away...we're awake and ready to rock'n' roll. The steam is building and our numbers are growing...this is our country, and the government works for us. Don't ever forget it.

"...is by next election you will have forgotten it all. Or just vote in the lesser of the evils anyway."
Possibly true in days of yore, but ain't gonna happen next time around. The sheep are waking up, and changing into wolves. Be afraid, elected elite, be very afraid.
And yes, NNP, I do know you were writing "tongue in cheek", and that those are likely not your actual beliefs on the power elite.

Congratulations Mark Bogard! I am most happy to see that you have crawled out of your foxhole. I commend you sir!
This is only the beginning of what today I am calling “The Great Kingman Cleanup”. There is no better place to start cleaning up trash than in our own back yard. I am confident that as we dig deeper into this pile of manure that this story will go national in a big way, and be inspirational to other people suffering from the same tyranny and oppression from other arrogant and narcissistic city, county, state, and federal politicians.

Thank you Mark for a GREAT article. How right you are. The 1st Amendment rights do not exist in Mohave County. It is becomming more apparent that "WE the People" must take back our County. The dictators and our beloved County Manager need to take notice. It is now time to start a RECALL, lets start with the Grand Pooh Pah Gary Watson, after all remind us what he has done for the citizens - wait nothing. Just check his schedule with all of the Developers visiting his office. Then lets start with I have no clue what I am doing Tom Sockwell - by the time he is RECALLED, he wont know it. And lastly Buster Johnson, just because a term limit should have been in place. And then perhaps we can fire the County Manager Ron Walker. But when this is done lets not forget our Trample on the Constitution County Attorney - all of them remove them and hire someone that can actually read a law book and read the Constitution. After all "WE the People" do have the right to not wait for the next election - we can act now RECALL!!! Anyone got a pen.

Thanks Mark, You are soooooo right....We the people are taking back our country. We have let the politicians and sheeple get to close to ruining it. That goes for the lower politicians, as well as the big DC politicians. We will/must keep making noise. They are starting to hear us, but we can't let up. They will do everything to get rid of us...Sorry I'm not going.

Excellent journalism! Is KDM coming into the 21st century or will this be the last article they allow you to write?
Becareful my man, I would love to read more from you but fear the repercussion this will have on you and your family. Please let the public know if anyone starts to threaten you about this. I know I will stand up and shout loudly, for the truth will eventually be told. So thanks for taking that bold step.

Good job Mark! We the people must take a stand for these constitutional violations. I can't seem to keep my mouth shut. Maybe the founders were the same and knew that without it, there is no freedom or liberty. Maybe those that try to silence us should read the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Ignorance of the law of the land is no excuse.

"if at any time a citizen stands up for his rights"...it goes way beyond ignoring. Like having your property violated. Then having their "no name provided" contributors here accuse you of lunacy if you go public with Government crimes.
What a strange expectation they have of us - to restrain ourselves to civil language and behaviour while they lie, cheat, steal, and desecrate their way through our lives, and memories (and if they hate you enough, to do so with great profiteering)- and when discussing this phenomenon playing out at the national level, we must rise to the challenges of wars presented to us based upon mass murder, the financial rape of future generations to fund them, and ultimately a genocidal agenda on behalf of your plunderers.
If you let them violate you at the local level, they will feel confident at the highest levels to trot out the most pathetic tapes/videos of "Osama bin Laden" before or after terrorist incidents executed so riddled with dead giveaway charachteristics that a dedicated amateur can pick through it with one hand ("terrorist" without passport escorted through Israeli-operated security firm at Amsterdam airport by U.S. intelligence agent, after having been trained in - voila! - Yemen, which our Government wants to occupy for the upcoming attack on Iran). It's interconnected, really. So before you wake up one morning soon to find your 401ks have been seized, martial law declared, and some of those "no name provided" people with orders, having forgotten all about the polite discourse to which we all all been remanded.....do what you gotta do NOW.
If you won't rise to all this and bring about truly representative and responsive Government or go down seriously trying, who will feel sorry for you later?

Wow, A controversial article from the editor against the power elite, I'm flabbergasted, could it be that the KDM is starting to become a real newspaper or was this just a fluke. Good to see though, I hope to see more of this type of light cast on the regime of Mohave County.

Welcome to the Puppet Show
Well put Mark. While the county officials "discourage" politicking on county property, let us not forget last elections and the conduct of our lovable County Manager, Ron Walker, and Supervisor Byers! They acted as self appointed campaign managers for certain elected officials. Not only did they display unprofessional and illegal maneuvering at board meetings, they also played it out very publicly in the papers in efforts to influence and manipulate an election. And here we are again with the same individuals dictating and re-writing the script. Everybody gets bored talking about it because the county is never held accountable for its actions.
Do you suppose Mr. Walker will ever get that performance review that had been requested before they signed his last contract? I know. Stupid question.
