Letter: You showed a lack of respect

Thank you so much, Mr. Walker, for writing your column in Sunday's Daily Miner. After reading it, Supervisor Sockwell's "you people" diatribe appears mild in comparison. Your continual derogatory use of the term "naturalized immigrant" not only is a slap at Mr. Zanna, it is an insult to all the good citizens that emigrated legally to this country to become productive citizens.

Mr. Zanna came through the "front door," and in order to do so, he had to learn our language, our political system, and pledge to support and defend his new country's Constitution. I would think that Mr. Zanna's knowledge of our Constitution is much better than a high percentage of those of us privileged to have been born here and lived all our lives in this magnificent country. And by the way, you also poke fun at Mr. Zanna's English, and actually compare him to the terrorist McVeigh. Just how low can you go, Mr. Walker? If you are an example of the leadership of Mohave County, perhaps the accusations leveled at you and our supervisors isn't too far off target.

You mention your service in the U.S. Navy. I too was privileged to serve four years in the same service, and judging from your arrogant column, you remind me of some punk junior officer that knew it all just out of officer candidate school. You talk about obedience to the law, but some laws are open to interpretation, and according to constitutional lawyers outside this jurisdiction, ARS 11-410, concerning prohibition of handing out literature on county property, is not a cut-and-dried ruling and can be interpreted differently from your interpretation.

Either way, Mr. Walker, until the Arizona Attorney General rules on the correct interpretation of ARS 11-410, I would suggest you show some respect to the citizens of this county. Mr. Zanna has always addressed his grievances with respect, but it seems this administration doesn't feel it necessary to respond in kind. The citizens of this great county are tired of the disdain shown to us. I would hope that the civics teachers in our county's high schools will read your column to their respective classes to demonstrate how out-of-control officials react when citizens try to exercise their constitutional rights.

I think you will find in the coming days and months ahead, the "lunatic fringe" you accuse Mr. Zanna of being a member of, is a lot more "mainstream" than you realize and that you and the present administration will be hearing a lot more from us "lunatics."

A very good letter Mr. Bihuniak. Mr. Zanna simply wanted to pass out McCain's voting record. McCain handed out political information. Is McCain better than the 'peasants' of this country? Is he allowed to advertise his views, but a citizen is not allowed to pass out HIS record? Which is public knowledge and easily accessible anywhere? Zanna's right to freedom of speech was violated when he asked to be put on the agenda so he could ask a simple question. He was right this time. They were wrong. It is simple.

I think the origin of the term lunatic referred to those whose behaviour was affected by the full moon. It became associated with incarcerated mental patients who were detached from reality. Now the Mohave County Board of Supervisors and County Manager reserve the term for those who wish voters to be informed of Senator John McCain's betrayal of their trust by presuming to act in the spirit of this nation's Founding Patriots. Those of us who would discuss law enforcement abuses are also called lunatics. Yeah, right - come home after writing to the newspaper and find your house burglarised, with valuables remaining but targeted items of Government interest removed. And a law enforcement hero or two drivng by your house that day or the next when you're out on your driveway, slowing to a stop in front of you, then speeding off. Lunacy, Mr. Stockwell and Mr. Walker? Lunacy would be to keep contemptible and condescending crooks in office after they have made known to us all how they see us. I'll be there Tuesday. In the meantime and afterwards, boyos, get ready because we're coming after you with your law.

@ Bob Taylor & all the County Attorneys

We have several times written to you in having a protest from Locomotive Park to the County Building. Time and time again you have denied us per your quote of ARS 11-410. We responded that this statute applies to County employees. Now Senator Ron Gould had a real attorney give his interpretation and it states that this statute refers to County employees. So to the Board of Supervisors and still employed (for now) Ron Walker- how is next Saturday looking for you. Because "We the People" would like to hold a protest at Locomotive Park and walk to the County Building to hold a peaceful protest. I truat that Sheriff Sheahan will not threaten to arrest or use any scare tactics on the peaceful protesters. After all "We the People" have the right to protest unther the "Freedom of Speech". So how's you calender looking that day!

According to Gould, the attorney who advises the state senate said it was his opinion that the county erred in applying ARS 11-410.

Ya know, it seems to me that McCain started this whole thing by allowing his people to pass out campaign items. The county officials so concerned about those trying to pass out McCain's voting record should have stopped McCain first.

@ Incompentant (sic) Reader

What makes them incompetant readers is when they are disagreeing with an opinion I never made.

To you who say that he is right on this one issue. I say this,I agree with certain things the Ayrian Nation argues but it don't mean I will take their side when I disagree with the majority of what they stand for.

So for you so-called veterans who will stand by someone who harrassed one of our own National Guardsman providing service to our community without demanding an apology, just because he might be right in your opinion on this one issue, I say your a disgrace to our brothers in uniform.

Sorry to Luca Zanna for misspelling his name.

I see Loyal Veteran read at least the first line I wrote. He did not not answer my question.

So Loyal Veteran, Luca does not have the right to hand out flyers but McCain does. I would say that is pretty one sided. The county used their power to keep people from knowing McCain's voting record. By the way McCain has a bill in congress right now to pretty much out law all vitamins and natural foods.

"loyal veteran" is a contradiction in terms where you are concerned...

"...the Kingman Daily Miner has the right to express its opinion in print, it does not have the right to stand in front of a doorway of any establishment handing out its paper without the express permission of the owner(s) which in this particular case is owned by all the citizens of Mohave County, not just Zanny, Mike, myself or any of you."

The ONLY correct point you made here is that, (and I defer the slanderous name calling to liberals like yourself)Luca, Mike, myself and unfortunately you, as well as the other Citizens in this Country, OWN city halls... county buildings including the courts and court houses and other property paid for by the tax paying Citizens...

So, in essence, what you are saying is that "Mr. Zanna, and others, had the absolute RIGHT to be there and do what they did. ALL within the confines of the "LAW". Is that too much for you to comprehend?

By the way... Are you really a REAL Vet? Or just a wanna be? If you are a Vet... Did you take an Oath to support and defend the Constitution?

Publius,

The county messed up!

Ron Walker has been mandating policies and guidelines for his staff and for the BOS for years that have nothing to do with the Rule of Law and alot to do with the Color of Law.

Hopefully, his other little interpretations will be exposed for what they are as more comes out. And now is the time for county employees to start shedding their light on his tyrannical rules. Along with the countless other citizens who have been mistreated by his policies that are literally made of air.

Loyal Veteran,

I don't recall the county getting the express permission of the owners to hand out McCains political propaganda. It's PUBLIC property and we don't need permission. We have the right to assemble peacefully. Just because people disagree with your opinion doesn't make them incompetent.

Hey AZMAC,

I like your spelling of Luca Zanna much better. He definitely is "Zanny". And to all the rest of you incompetant readers, I never made any opinion on this topic one way or another other than to say to Mike, not "Zanny" that he does not speak for the citizens of this great county. It is his opinion and that of anyone who wants to can agree with.

As far as Ron Walker goes, I didn't need this particular issue to think he was an idiot. I've had no use for him way before this issue, just the same as I have no use for "Zanny" or Mike.

To call what "Zanny" was doing as "free speech" though is an insult to the 1st Admendment. I don't buy into that anymore than than some liberal judge determining that burning our great flag is free speech.

I take what the 1st admendment says at its face. Speech can be expressed verbally or in print, but just as the Kingman Daily Miner has the right to express its opinion in print, it does not have the right to stand in front of a doorway of any establishment handing out its paper without the express permission of the owner(s) which in this particular case is owned by all the citizens of Mohave County, not just Zanny, Mike, myself or any of you.

@Loyal Veteran (you shame the real men and women who protect this nation)

How foolish you are to attack a respected man like Mike Bihuniak and the RAID organization!

All you have to do is look at what RAID acomplished to know that these guys represnted the MAJORITY, and the MAJORITY made a decision.

RAID took the issue to A VOTE OF THE PEOPLE and the PEOPLE voted the bond issue down, not RAID and not Mr. Bihuniak!

Try using some FACTS the next time you insult a man like him and please dont insult the truly brave soldiers that have risked their lives for this country by including yourself in your tyrade!

Great article Mike!

I for one will be proudly standing with the “lunatic fringe” representing truth and freedom of speech outside the County building at the BOS meeting next Tuesday afternoon. I am also demanding the immediate termination of Mr. Walker by the current BOS – Gary Watson, Tom Sockwell, and Buster Johnson.

It has been suggested that there needs to be a proper paper trail, not just comments in the Daily Miner, for legal reasons, from “We the People” to the BOS. You may send your demand for Mr. Walker’s termination or the resignation of Mr. Sockwell by sending certified mail to their respective addresses which I have listed below or their email. Retain your confirmation of delivery or a copy of your email.

Gary Watson
700 W. Beale Street

Tom Sockwell
1130 Hancock Road

Buster D. Johnson
2001 College Drive, Suite 90
Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403

I am looking forward to seeing a good turnout next Tuesday y’all. And… as long as we are on the subject of Constitutional Rights and freedom – if you’ve got’em wear them.

Well said Mike:

I believe that Ron Walker should be fired. He does have one year left on his outlandish contract with the county to the tune of about $180,000. that is a small amount to pay, unless he reaches 10 years with the County and then gets a pension. I say call / Email all the supervisors and demand that Ron Walker be terminated immediately. Next "We the People" need to begin a RECALL on Tom Sockwell and Gary Watson. Remember it was Gary Watson that wanted to get rid of Ron Walker in his campaign for District 1 Supervisor. Well it appears that Gary Watson mislead the voters in that promise also. It is useless to contact the Attorney General's office in Arizona. It appears that Mr. Zana has the basis of a lawsuit against Tom Sockwell and Ron Walker. The AZ Attorney General will just bounce this back and say it is a civil matter. But Mr. Zana if he annot afford an attorney, I am sure the ACLU will gladly step in a take this corruption down. Excellent letter Mike!
