Letters: Don't choke on your foot, Mr. Walker

I can't believe Ron Walker's response in the Sunday paper. The man just keeps pushing his foot further into his mouth. This time he should choke on it.

Just where does he get off stating that a citizen who spoke up against him is "a naturalized citizen from Italy." He makes it sound like a naturalized citizen is a second-class citizen and as such has no right to speak. May I remind him, at some time in history, our ancestors all came from somewhere else unless we are Native Americans. That means they were all naturalized citizens.

Then he quotes Arizona Statute 11-410 improperly, just ask the Attorney General's Office. It only applies to employees of the state, county or city. Walker keeps referring to "you people." You people just happen to be the citizens of this county! Walker referred again to "the immigrant," saying English is not his native language. Apparently, it isn't Walker's either. He continues his column by referring to some of us as "the lunatic fringe." That is one hell of a way to talk about the citizens of this county. Apparently, Mr. Walker is from the elite Washington DC Special Interest Think Tank who believe they are above everything and everyone. Mr. Walker is not helping the Mohave County Board of Supervisors with his comments. He is helping to sink them, for if the Board of Supervisors can't see that the man needs to be fired, then the supervisors are using him to spout their feelings toward the citizens of Mohave County. If that is the case, they all need to resign before we vote every last one of them out.

Many of these cases are handled by who you see in the mirror.

To Bob Taylor and all County Attorneys.

We have written to you several times about holding a protest from Locomotive Park in Kingman and walk to the County Building on a Saturday. Every time you reply and cite ARS 11-410. Every time we reply back to you and state to you that ARS 11-410 pertains to County employees not the citizens. And yet Senator Ron Gould had a real attorney read the statute and his interpretation is clear. The statute only applies to County employees. So to the Board of Supervisors and still employed (for now) County Manager Ron Walker how is next Saturday sound for "We the People" to have a protest beginning at LOcomotive Park and walk to the County Building. I trust the Sheriff Sheahan will not threaten to arrest any peaceful protester, or scare anyone. It is time that "We the People" have the right to protest at the County Building. Should we all check our schedule?

Your ignorance is overwhelming Capt. Nice. I would suggest you pick a theory and explain why you think it has merit.

According to Gould, the attorney who advises the state senate said it was his opinion that the county erred in applying ARS 11-410.

I too, thought the a "naturalized citizen from Italy" to be out of line and offensive. The civil disobediance angle is a good one - just remember a very large percent of those cases are handled by the ACLU.

to mouth of the south - not disagreeing with you, but here are some facts....get arrested and you will be restricted from out-of-state travel until your trial (and that is assuming you have someone to bail you out of jail), which will be at least five or six months away. Make sure no close relative will die whose funeral you will be expected to attend, and no out-state-business you must humbly explain through your public defender/lawyer to His Honor. And you WILL appear first before His Honor to have your bail exonerated and be lucky if Sonny Barger isn't the one to appear right before you (as in my case, after the Government broke into my home and I am alleged to have responded accordingly). You're assuming that, being incarcerated or even out on bail, that a helpful support network will be available for your emotional and financial needs. Let me know where they are, will you? But at least while awaiting trial out on bail at home, you may find comfort in all the citizens writing their outraged their comment at the Daily Miner. The only way I see that this will work is if the goons have to arrest 200 or 300 citizens downtown in one instance. Maybe they will just grab a few. Wonder what they're discussing now?

Here is the bottom line: someone needs to intentionally protest on county property, refuse to move when the county demands, and be arrested for trespass. Then you argue as your defense the Constitution, and take it to the supreme court. The court will rule on the county's interpretation of the law. Any takers?

This is called civil disobediance and it's essentially how the civil rights movement overturned a bunch of laws in the 60s.
