2/16/2010 6:00:00 AM Letter: GOP-flavored institutional arrogance
I sincerely believe Ron Walker was right in saying that Tom Sockwell's 'you people' comment was not racially motivated. It was, however, the product of the institutional arrogance that has infected government from both parties. Here in Mohave County, we have the GOP-flavored arrogance.
There is nothing "extreme" about demanding one's rights be respected and that county government apply "the law" in a uniform manner. Arbitrary enforcement of "the rule of law" is the hallmark of petty tyrants. Hiding behind "the rule of law" as a defense to the arbitrary application of it is the mark of a congenital liar. If you lie in regard to that it makes me wonder what else is being lied about.
I guess from now on I will refer to bureaucrats such as Sockwell and Walker as "You Idiots" (the same tone as Sockwell used). It's not an insult though. To arrogant politicians, that is a compliment.
Mr. Zanna: Many of us stand behind you. Keep it up, sir. You may hail from outside this land but you have a better grasp of the Constitution than many of these good ol' boys who think that a simple (R) behind their name makes them unaccountable.

"99% of the Tea party are nothing but angry ex-Bushites,"
Oh how wrong you are. But as a statistical fact... the clowns you now have controlling things in D.C. do not seem to be able to get their agenda passed even with total control of the House and Senate. That should tell you something. You can't blame it on the GOP when your beloved Dems show they have don't have one spine between them.
Last of all, Cletus, it is not County Property, it is our property.

It is just as interesting watching you use it as a lame excuse to mention the GOP and national politics. You are clearly too simple minded to realize that party does not matter. Scratch that....you are clearly too brainwashed.

The really funny thing about all these tea party rallies, passing out literature on county property, etc, etc, the simple solution if the folks making all the fuss is in a majority is win at the ballot box!
But no thats to simple, since the truth is these self professed grass roots groups are not a "majority" proof in the pudding was in NY congressional district recently, GOP candidate did not suit them, so they put forth their "tea party candidate" splitting the right wing GOP voters between the die hard GOP folks and the angry, unhappy GOP folks which is what majority of these tea party folks really are, sure some independants might be in that crowd, but by no means any significant numbers, and low and behold, a democrat wins the congressional seat, something not happening since the Civil War era!
But then their come back is when traditional GOP candidates win two governors races they proclaim "tea party victory" much like they did when the GOP candidate won in Mass., of course he was smart, he avoided calling himself a republican, and mostly hinted he was independant even though he was a GOP nominee! I never try to use the GOP crystal ball or psychic abilities they seem to proclaim to have by knowing how elections will come out pre-election, but just looking at the track record, I can see some very disappointed, angry right wingers when and if they do not get their way, hopefully that 1% who cannot control themselves will not commit suicide as the fellow did in anger in Austin, Texas!
99% of the Tea party are nothing but angry ex-Bushites, disappointed he turned out to be a phoney much as his chicken hawk war record was! I vote, thats how I deal with my issues, I do not attend rallies right or left, or middle of the road, since they are nothing but feel good events for those who get all riled up and think they are doing something, if your in the majority view vote and prove it, if not, your side will loose at the ballot box as they have the last two election cycles, the Florida and Ohio tricks will not work anymore, you folks cannot disenfranchise 50,000 likely democrat voters ever again, unlike you angry right wingers we did not protest and advocate secession, sedition we merely worked harder and won elections and stopped you all's dirty tricks, sent two of your GOP operatives to prison for jamming phone lines during the 2004 election issues in New Hampshire, might have fixed all these issues had not the GOP stacked the supreme court in 2000, but one has to deal with loosing sometimes in life, of course you folks are bad loosers for sure, with your pitch forks on slings, threatening civil war secession, sedition and claiming that is "patriotism", when its nothing but treason, you folks would be perfect "Benedict Arnolds" he to thought treason was patriotism!

What we are facing in our country is a form of tyranny. This tyranny is in disguise. It is a sneaky from of tyranny. Those in power use law to keep the people from getting recognition and passing out the word. They media has been taken over by a relatively small group of corporations that make sure the focus the camera is directed where they want it.
The idea that American Citizens are being prevented from demonstrating their discontent, their anger, at our county facility is a microcosm of what is happening throughout our country.
The county is trying to use law as a way to prevent Americans from protesting on our government property. What better place to protest, and reach the people than to reach them while doing government business, or protesting during government meetings. Where would they have us protest, way out in the middle of now were, where no one can hear the protesters. Would they have citizens go to Wal-Mart and beg them to allow a protest in front of their store?

They should have all carried in toilet plungers instead of a pitch fork.
Of course it will take more than toilet plungers to flush out all the crud that comes from certain tyrants.
These tyrants allowed one man to do his politicking on County property, while they banned another man.
This was all based on unwritten policy which was based on a law that only they broke!

It is amusing a band of 50 or so looney tunes think they speak and represent more than themselves, and truly the proof of their lunacy is their members carrying the "pitch fork with a sling" as it it had no meaning but a violent one, and they really think they speak for the tens of thousands of citizens of Mohave county when in reality they speak for a fringe lunatic group who preach secession, sedtion and treason disguised as patriotism!

Nice article Mr. Handy!
Go to YouTube and search "Tyranny in Mohave County" and watch the three minute video that includes Mr. Walker attempting to answer why he will not let citizens carrying an American flag into HIS building.

I just returned from Luca Zanna's protest gathering at the county Adminstration building. Approximately 120 people showed up and about 25 of us went in to sit fop part of the Supervisors meeting. There wasn't a word of acknowledgement from the Supervisors of what they surely must have known what was taking place outside. If I was given to humour at this time, which I am not, I'd suggest their majesties adorn their regal scalps with wigs and adopt some suitably royalist attire for the rest of their cadavers. That should make a fine scene when they are escorted from office some day soon, following an election.

I would like to repeat a little tip for the upcoming elections, (this is most likely obvious to some, but offered to those voters that may not think about it!):
If an elected position does not have challengers to vote for; do not mark a vote for that position! If a candidate gets a very low vote count; it could, at least encourage a challenger to come forward in the next election for that position! This is especially true for the election of judges!

It's interesting to see the Republicans chopping each other up. The Republicans have owned Mohave County and Arizona for many years. I guess the GOP is not as wonderful and sacred as the right wingers have been saying.

It's time to stand up
Thank you Mr. Handy, and no matter what your party affiliation, what this County is arrogantly flaunting will not be tolerated any longer. We KNOW there was no law that voided our 1st amendment at the McCain meeting. Sen. Gould, the Sen. Attorney, now Nancy McClain came out as well and agreed that Zanna was right. Of course he was, and then to get publicly attacked by them shows their arrogance and audacity. They violated laws, and are now hiding behind a curtain of false power that they think will shield them from repercussions. Recalls and law suits.
This is the only way you can chip away at corruption.

Walker's and Sockwell's arrogance will probably be their downfall in the future. If Luca Zanna has his way, Sockwell will be recalled and when Luca ultimately sues the county, the BOS will have no choice, but to fire Walker.

Good letter, just remember, if they are in office now, don't vote for them again when the time comes.
