2/18/2010 6:00:00 AM Letter: An open response to Ron Walker
I just read your four columns of dribble in the Feb. 7 Miner. I have not been personally involved in the drama that has played out regarding the flyers passed out on county property. I have, however, followed the story in the paper.
The one thing that really prompted my response to your article was that you didn't even show the common courtesy of referring to this individual that you called "a naturalized citizen from Italy" by his name. The last time I checked, a naturalized citizen is a legal citizen, and in my mind, deserves the respect due any other American. However, in staying with the context that you started, for the purpose of the remainder of this article, I will refer to you as the yahoo from Texas. You quoted Good ol' Teddy in your article, "No man is above the law ..." but as far as I have read in the paper, you and your cohort Supervisor Sockwell seem to have placed yourselves in that very position. You continue to refer to Arizona Statute 11-410 as your foundation for your position, when a prominent attorney from Phoenix has said that it in no way refers to members of the public but deals strictly with county employees. You have not produced one bit of written evidence of a county policy that you keep insisting exists.
For one, as a citizen of this county I would like to see it published in the Miner for all to read, also accompanied by the date it was passed. You fall all over yourself in your article patting Mr. Sockwell on the back for all he has done in the past. We don't have to look very far these days for politicians who, no matter what they have done in the past, take a wrong turn. You're really only as good as your latest performance, and from what I've read in the Miner, Mr. Sockwell's hasn't been very exemplary lately.
Have you any idea at all what it may have taken and the hardships endured for a person to come from Italy to become an American citizen? It's no surprise to me that this individual is willing to fight for his rights under our Constitution. Most naturalized citizens are far more zealous than many who are born here and take those rights for granted. I for one salute this man. Given the current situation, if you or Mr. Sockwell were really concerned about the cost of a recall for the taxpayers, why don't you just make an apology. From what I've read in the Miner, it seems that you both now owe one.
Of course, you could both just resign and stop a recall that way. Or does the yahoo from Texas really consider himself to be above the law? The next time you want to see someone close up who is on the "lunatic fringe" you refer to, perhaps a glance in the mirror would suffice. The American public is really getting tired of the current political climate, not only in the country, but in this county as well.

Wow DaveG....now exactly how do we in this anonymous cyber world know all you say is true? Oh we have to accept your word for it?:-) I hate to bust your bubble bubba, but I am not impressed with words, and harken back to a old standard, take everything with a grain of salt, and believe half of what you see and half of what you hear, since both can be decieving! I think you either have forgotten some of your past posts or someone here is impersonating your handle on occassion, but truly do really think anyone cares how old you are, what political party you claim to be in? Not likely matters to anyone but you and your mom! :-) I could tell you I am a little green man from mars, but that does not make it so!

I was at the county bldg that day also, and a friend of all who gathered in protest to what is happening here in Mohave county and the lack of respect for citizens shown by those who are in OUR employ , as our elected "public servants"...and since they adjourned the meeting only minutes after calling it to order I was wondering if they can be docked a days pay, since no business was accomplished.
And can anyone exp[lain exactly "WHY " they adjourned so rapidly ?
If one was to assume it was due to our presence in the meeting room, then what will happen if we are to show up each and every meeting in order to observe and make sure that they are staying within the guidelines of their "job" description , will they choose to adjourn every time we are present...seems to me even that would be a reason for recall.
And in case any one would like to know...I plan on attending ALL the future supervisors meetings. Hope to see some of you there.

"Under 30 GOP"?? As I posted elsewhere; I was there when WWII ended! Let me see...I went to school when they actually taught readin', writin', and 'arithmetic; so I can calculate my age as greater than 30! You must be a recent graduate!
The second mistake for your analysis of me is that my voter registration indicates "PND"; not GOP!
WOW...2 strikes! Better be careful not to get your third strike!

I welcome the tag of the village idiot, by the looney tunes with their pitch forks on slings, consider that a real impressive bunch of geniuses! I am always amused at the right wing geniuses, angry that their last genius GW Bush Jr disappointed them, now they have decided to rename themselves "true conservatives, true patriots" the tea party, guess they missed the memo their last genius sold us lock stock and barrel to the tea producers in China! I am not impressed with all the pitch fork bravado, but it does do good for a laugh! :-)

The Tea Party is a group that has people from all party's in it. you can be right or left. And yes their are some who believe in some strange ideas. But what truly binds them is a belief that We are a group of taxpaying citizens who many have never been involved in politics. We may not want to be a part of a political party because we are angry at them all. Any politician who does not support fiscal & personal responsibility, limited government and believe in a free market society will not be supported; in fact, we will be doing everything possible to remove them from office. We are proud Americans who believe in the Constitution and our Founding Father’s faith, values and intentions.
You can do a Google search for Arizona tea party to check out what they have to say.

Dear Village Idiot: you are either one of the BOS, Mr. Walker himself or one of their sophomoric relatives.

Why am I surprised DaveG is a Glen Beck devotee? Not really, since DaveG has already identified himself as a under 30 GOP genius who knows all the cure all for the ills of the world, its always amusing to read how the youthful think they know how to solve all the worlds problems when many just recently learned to tie their own shoes! :-)
And for the angry GOP/Tea Pariers/Minute men/Aryan Nations members, I will not go down to your level of social ethics and use profanity in describing you, no a old saying comes to mind, "if the shoe fits wear it, if not do not"!

It is humorous to read some of the angry, whining tea party crowd, with lots of stories but no solutions, no just whine, cry 24/7, at something that has been around for a very long time, death and taxes, both inevitable! As to Glen Beck, he tickled me today (yes I listen for morbid curiosity not as a fan), he gave a euology of the fellow who did the angry desperate act of suicide today in Texas, all you folks do is reassure me that the looney tunes are like birds of a feather they do tend to flock together. Already news media is comparing this fellow to Timothy McVeigh, who infamously had a bunker here in Mohave county, prior to his infamous Oklahoma City bombing, and its long been thought he had others involved with him who never got indicted, guess one might avoid punishment for many things on this old earth but judgment day gets them all in the end! I cannot be silenced, and do not fear cry babies or whiners which is all I see in the tea party movement, 99% blow hards, and 1% looney tunes ready to commit suicide!

Great letter Jerry, it's so encouraging to see the good people of this area stand up and speak out. Thank you for your articulate, intelligent letter, and for your support of the glaring truth.
@ citizen,
you are obviously a person who understands what this ugly and corrupt national government is all about, and we are dealing with the same with our our local government. Changes are taking place everywhere, and Mohave County will be no different. People just can't be lazy and afraid. This 'person' you are talking to is either a failure in life, acting out like a child because of self-loathing, or possibly.... one of our illustrious BOS?

@no name provided.....give us all a break. If we sanction or participate in strong action, we're treasonous [SOB's] who should be ridiculed and ground into the sand. If we refrain from this we're yellow-bellied whiners in need of bowel-control meds. You're disgusting. I went to jail here for defending my home and rights against this criminal Government. What have you done lately? Watching too many of the semi-conscious sheeple grazing from sea to shining sea while the wolves rule and feast upon our monies, rights and heritage, sounds like you'll be spending most of your time boning up on the latest available insults to hurl at those of us who take a stand.

I began a desperately-needed new job in 1985 following a two-year stint with an employer who had failed to withold taxes, which left me with an IRS debt of several thousand dollars. I contacted the IRS shortly after beginning the nw job and offered to pay monthly, and agreed with their generous offer to make a lesser monthly payment. Yeah, well....before the folowing month when I was to mail in the modest payment, the IRS seized all but $125 of my monthly pay! I very nearly lost my job and ended up sleeping in my car in the company parking lot. I telephoned the IRS and asked why they did that, and the supervisor in their Fresno office said to me (this is an exact quote I haven't forgotten over the years) - ""We just do that to get peoples' attention!" Tell you what, Mr. No Name Provided people can only take so much *deleted*, whether you OR THEY like it!!! There is a time and there is a place to demand all that is precious, and your very life, from these *deleted*. Maybe it would be preferable to do so with the active support of a network of concerned and empathetic citizens, but this is clearly not always available. You'll just have to pardon my insolence and read whatever you like into my words here, as the Rule Of Law means whatever the hell they want it to mean in service of their presumtious criminal agenda.

The first problem with Nnp's response was that he/she relied on CNN's "far left leaning" news (opinions)!
Try watching Fox news to counter balance the CNN story. Also, I recommend Glenn Beck's program at 3:00 PM (local); to learn what this present administration, (and past) is trying to do to us! I believe he tells the truth because he uses videos of official's speeches and quotes from their speeches to back up what he says. He also, has a phone that is dedicated to the Whitehouse, only. It is for any Whitehouse official to call him, (on the show), if he presents any information that is not true. So far...NO CALLS!
Now, you can consider Beck a "wingnut" if you want; but you might not see the "train" coming in time to get out of the way!

Guess the tea party crowd only hears what they want too, first reports were aircraft was stolen, then reports surfaced the house burned down was owned by a man who also owned a registered single engine plane, IRS building is being confirmed with out a doubt, his suicide letter/note stated he was giving his pound of flesh to the IRS man! His wife/daughter were rescued from the burning house, so he might have intended them to die also, cannot say, but one sees just how the tea party picth fork crowd works, my guess is the real looney tunes who think all their fair weather tea party friends will join them in this "revolution they are dreaming of" will find all these fair weather friends gone when that storm arrives after they take that "action" some keep claiming they have the nerve and guts to do, my guess is 99% with a 1% exception like this fellow have no nerves, no courage, and lack the family jewels to do more than talk tough, and big and complain and whine like a baby needing its diaper changed!

@ V Stokes --
That particular NNP has the brain-dead idea that anyone who protests government abuse -- whether it's abuse of authority, abuse of citizens or abuse of the Constitution -- is a traitor.
You can recognize him by this oft-repeated rant: "...those folks preaching secession, sedition, treason as patriotism..."
Your miles ahead just ignoring this imbecile. He hasn't got a clue.

@NNP....would you have been happier if the guy in TX had just killed his family and himself? You sure do make a lot of assumptions about something that just happened. How do you know he hadn't been fired 6 months ago and was losing his house and his wife and he just did his taxes, found out he owed $$$ and that was the final straw? They have also reported he stole the plane. Maybe you should have waited for a few more facts...or opened your eyes and ears before posting.
You did get one thing correct...you're sure no rocket scientist.

CNN as I type is reporting a man in Texas, has burned his home, took his registered aircraft flew it into a building in Austin, Texas, which houses some IRS offices, now I am not a rocket scientist but it does not take one to realize this man is likely a angry tea partier, gone wild, one of those folks preaching secession, sedition, treason as patriotism, this is where the pitch fork crowd ought to make those who run with them wonder just how looney tune are their friends they are attending all these "tea party rallies with"?

Mr. Gardner correctly states that no written policy/legal interpretation exists to back up local officials' pompous statements. I attended Luca Zanna's Tuesday protest gathering at the county Administration building, witnessed Mervin Fried's illegal arrest for attempting to walk into the facility (and the Supervisors' meeting then taking place) with a pitchfork strapped/holstered to his person, and wish to asign my name to this statement --- Mr. Fried and all of us should hold the officials responsible who arrested him! A verbal order/command is not of itself binding upon a citizen! Mervin Fried broke no law any more than did Mr. Luca Zanna at last November 13th's John McCain appearance (handing out copies of McCain's voting record)! Regardless of whether you agree or not with Mr. Fried's gesture last Tuesday, the point we should all value is that he was within his - and YOUR - rights. Remember that, if they can arbitrarily arrest him without regard to written law, they can (and do) break the law against you. Considering that every person in the world with a debit card and a couple dozen dollars in their account can now access your life record completely without context, I consider it a very big deal when Government/law enforcement approach a citizen without regard for the written law, and for brevity sake I won't even begin discussing their completely illegal home break-ins here. Whatever it takes, in support of the illegal wars and advancing New World Order, eh?
